PlayStation VR to debut in October for $549

Sony's version of virtual reality will cost a few hundred dollars less than competitors when its headset is released in October. 


The company announced a $549 Cdn ($399 US) price tag and October release date for PlayStation VR on Tuesday during the Game Developers Conference, an annual gathering of video game creators. 

"We're proud of the price point we've been able to achieve because it means more gamers will be able to bring PlayStation VR into their living rooms," said Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. 

House noted that Sony has sold 36 million PS4 consoles since the console first debuted in 2013. 

The head-mounted PS VR headset works in tandem with the PlayStation 4 console, which costs about $429 depending on the model. The headset replaces a wearer's vision with virtual worlds while detecting head movement with internal sensors and a camera.

PS VR's release will come months after the respective consumer launches of similar high-definition headsets, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. 

The Rift from Facebook-owned Oculus will be available March 28 for $599 US. The Vive from HTC and gaming company Valve will be released April 5 for $799 US. They both require high-end PCs costing at least $1,000 or more in order to work. 

PS VR will come with ear buds and the cables required to use it. However, it will not be bundled with PlayStation Move controllers or the PlayStation Camera, which costs about $70. 

In addition to playing immersive, 360-degree games, PS VR will feature a cinematic mode allowing users to broadcast traditional games and content on a virtual big screen within the headset. 

For gamers and technophiles, interest in VR has been building since Oculus began showing off early prototypes of the Rift headset at industry events in 2012. 

"We believe that PlayStation VR is best poised to bring VR to the mainstream given the unparalleled VR experience we're offering at a tremendous value, along with the strength of our ecosystem and the momentum of our brand," said House. 

House said he expects over 50 games will be available for PlayStation VR by the end of 2016. He added that Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm are creating exclusive Star Wars: Battlefront content for PS VR.

Watch Region 2 DVDs in the USA in Three Ways

If you love Moone Boy but live in America, you will be disappointed to find your DVD Player can’t play this DVD. Why? The simple reason is that you DVD is region 2 while your DVD Player made i n America is region 1. PC DVD drives are generally region locked and can’t play a DVD with a different DVD disc. Method 1: To change region settings for DVD drives

To configure your America DVD drive to play region 2 DVD discs, you can select a geographic area from the list of regions. Typically, you would select the region in which you reside. It is not usually necessary to change the setting again. The region settings can be changed only a limited number of times.

For window users, you can change the region code on a DVD drive for totally 5 times as below:

1.Click the Start menu and then Control Panel;
2. Double-click the Device Manger
3. Click on the + near DVD/CD-ROM drives and double-click on the entry below the DVD/CD-ROM drives.
4. Click the DVD Region tab after the window opens.
5. Select the Region in which you’d like to change to and hit OK. 

For Mac users, you can change DVD from region 1 to region 2 or region 2 to region 4 for four more times, too.

1. A dialog box that urges you to choose a region for your DVD drive is opened once you insert the DVD into the optical drive on your Mac.
2. Consult the DVD package to verify the region code. 
3. Click Change Drive Region to and click the region code.
4. Click Set Drive Region
5. Click on the Lock icon to save your settings.

Step1: Load region code 2 DVD disc

Insert DVD disc to the DVD drive and then launch Pavtube DVDAid. Click "Load from disc" button to browse to disc drive and import DVD into this app. The program checks the title of main movie automatically, and you can simply choose language of audio and subtitles for output and check in preview window.



Step 2: Choose format and set profile.

Select an optimized video format for output. There are hundreds of profiles under Format menu,  you would always find the right one as output format to adapt to your various devices like iPad, Plex, PS4, computer.

How to backup 4K Blu-ray to Sony VPLVW350ES 4K Projector?

Step 1: Load 4K Blu-ray from optical drive.

Click the "File" icon on the top menu bar to load your 4k Blu-ray disc to the program.



Step 2: Choose output file format.

From "Format" bar drop-down list, choose the formats that you want to output for later use. For compatibility consideration, it is idea for you to choose "HD Video" > "H.264 HD Video (*.mp4)" as output file format.
