Best Games for iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6

Along with a new and more powerful processor, Apple’s newest smartphones will run on iOS 8, an operating system designed with increased graphical performance in mind. We've all heard the impressive GPU stats on the iPhone 6, and gazed longingly at the massive 1920 x 1080 screen on the iPhone 6 Plus - perfect for playing the next wave of A8-powered games. All of this has major implications for both game developers and mobile gamers— as well as the entire multi-billion a year mobile gaming industry.

Best Games for iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6

With talk of Super Evil Megacorp and Vainglory, you may be able try the following games to test the performance of your handset. Of course, they are still worth to play even if you don’t buy iPhone 6.

As you can see, iPhone 6 games are on the way from massive publishers such as Ubisoft and Square Enix as well as smaller teams such as Proletariat (World Zombination) and EA subsidiary Firemonkeys (Real Racing 3).

Best Game: Vainglory

Demoed on stage during the event, Vainglory comes from a new developer, the wonderfully named Super Evil Megacorp. It’s a multiplayer online battle arena game — colloquially called a MOBA — akin to hugely popular games like League of Legends and Defense of the Ancients, but built from the ground up for your iPhone 6.

So how does it play? We have no idea yet, but it’s nothing if not ambitious. Six players — three a side — can play together on separate devices, and matches should take about 20 minutes apiece. The control scheme is entirely touch driven; you won’t need a gamepad. For all intents and purposes, it looks like a legit MOBA.

Vainglory is a free-to-play game, which means it will likely noodge you to cough up some dough for new characters or levels. Still, free is free, and as the first game fully optimized for the iPhone 6 line, it’s likely a no-brainer download when it releases in October.

The game – out this Winter - is only available for iOS.  The E.V.I.L. engine is, however, designed to be playable across all platforms which makes a later release of an Android version, and perhaps then world domination, probable.

Upcoming"Galcon 2" is the first game we've seen planning to take advantage of the iPhone 6 Plus Screen Size.

I've been asking on Twitter for days now if any developers have any cool plans for the additional screen real estate of the iPhone 6 Plus. Goat-herding iPhone developer Phil Hassey is the first (and only) person to answer the call so far, and he's got some neat plans for the upcoming Galcon 2.
