Top 1. Night Moves Blu-ray

Cinedigm | 2013 | 112 min | Rated R | Sep 02, 2014 (1 Day)

Storyline:

NIGHT MOVES, the fifth feature film from acclaimed filmmaker Kelly Reichardt, is the story of three radical environmentalists coming together to execute the most intense protest of their lives: the explosion of a hydroelectric dam-the very source and symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise. Harmon is a former Marine, radicalized by tours of duty overseas. His life in the military is behind him, but at heart he remains the same reckless alpha male healways was, eager for adventure, excited by the prospect of mayhem and destruction. Dena is a high society dropout, sickened by the consumer economy into which she was born. She's moved west and cut ties with her family, edging ever deeper into radical politics. And Josh, their leader, is a self-made militant, devoted to the protection of the Earth by any means necessary. A son of the middle class who works on an organic farm, he's an intensely private person by nature and may have the deepest convictions of them all. NIGHT MOVES is a tale of suspense and a meditation on the consequences of political extremism. When do legitimate convictions truly demand illegal behaviors? What happens to a person's idealism when they find their back against the wall?

Root (Amy Acker) has been confined to an insane asylum but is in constant contact with the Machine, while Finch (Michael Emerson) finds himself in a position where he's no longer the Machine's sole human contact. Meanwhile, Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Shaw (Sarah Shahi) continue their work preventing crimes from happening with the help of their usual NYPD contact, Det. Fusco (Kevin Chapman); and Carter (Taraji P. Henson), who has been demoted from detective to a uniformed police officer, wages a very personal war against the corrupt police organization HR. At the same time, new threats against Team Machine come to light, including Vigilance--a watchdog group committed to exposing overreaching government surveillance methods--and Decima Technologies, who tried and failed to take control of the Machine in the previous season and are now going to extreme measures to bring another surveillance system called Samaritan online.

1. Let's Be Cops

UK Theatrical Release Date: August 27th 2014
Genre: Comedy, Crime
Starring :Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans Jr,  Nina Dobrev
Director: Luke Greenfield

Sometimes it pays to be simple. Case in point? Let’s Be Cops, a buddy comedy that takes one neat idea – wouldn’t it be cool to act like a cop? – then knocks it out the park. Located a couple of doors down from 21 Jump Street, Luke Greenfield’s caper also recalls the infectious recklessness ofCatch Me If You Can and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, other films that hang on the notion of reinvention through deception. In New Girl actors Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr., meanwhile, it boasts an instantly winning double act that, at its best, recalls the lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon series.

2. Obvious Child

UK Theatrical Release Date: August 29th 2014
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Starring: Jenny Slate, Jake Lacy, Gaby Hoffmann
Director: Gillian Robespierre

In being brave, scrappy, and not quite as funny as it thinks it is, Gillian Robespierre’s controversial romcom mimics its heroine, a down-on-her-luck Brooklyn comedian (Jenny Slate) struggling to tell a straight-laced one-night stand that she’s become pregnant. We’re in Girls territory here, with awkward, confessional dark comedy that slyly mocks hipster self-absorption while indulging in it.

Its raw edges, grungy setting, and matter-of-fact tone about abortion mark it out from sunnier unplanned-preggo comedies like Juno or Knocked Up. Fizzing with neurosis and nervous gags, Jenny Slate’s winning odd-couple romance with a gawky Jake Lacy carries the movie over the odd comic misfire.

3. Night Moves

UK Theatrical Release Date: August 29th 2014
Genre: Drama
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg,Dakota Fanning, Peter Sarsgaard
Director: Kelly Reichardt

Not to be confused with the classic 1975 Gene Hackman detective yarn of the same name, Night Moves is the latest from US indie filmmaker Kelly Reichardt. Just as her last effort, 2010’s Meek’s Cutoff, was nominally a western so this, superficially, is a thriller, focused on a trio of eco-terrorists who plot to blow up a hydroelectric dam in Oregon.

Making up this radical threesome: Josh (Jesse Eisenberg), an environmentalist disillusioned with working on a commune; spoilt little rich kid Dena (Dakota Fanning), who bankrolls their scheme, and older ex-Marine Harmon (Peter Sarsgaard), an explosives expert with a cloudy past.

Let’s go to cinema right now. Enjoy it and have fun!
